VideometerLab UV as a companion on a journey for a Student Prize

In a remarkable display of academic excellence, the University of Hamburg’s talented students, Anna Novikova and Marten Klukkert, have been recognized for their groundbreaking research in the field of UV imaging. Their exceptional work has garnered them prestigious accolades, with Anna receiving the coveted Student Prize for her project titled “UV Imaging for the Analysis of MUPS Tablets: Pellet Distribution,” and Marten being honored for his outstanding contribution to the project titled “High-Throughput Quality Control of Critical Physical Tablet Attributes by UV Multispectral Imaging.”

Analysis of Multiple Unit Pellet System tablets

Anna Novikova’s award-winning project delves into the realm of UV imaging to explore its potential applications in analyzing MUPS (Multiple Unit Pellet System) tablets. MUPS tablets are innovative pharmaceutical formulations that contain multiple small drug-containing pellets within a single dosage form. By utilizing the VideometerLab with UV imaging, Anna has devised a novel approach to evaluate the distribution of these pellets within the tablets, providing valuable insights into their structural integrity and uniformity. Her meticulous research and innovative methodology have not only shed light on the manufacturing process of MUPS tablets but have also opened new avenues for quality control in the pharmaceutical industry.

Quality control of pharmaceutical tablets

On the other hand, Marten Klukkert’s groundbreaking research focuses on utilizing UV multispectral imaging for high-throughput quality control of critical physical tablet attributes. Tablets are one of the most widely used pharmaceutical dosage forms, and ensuring their physical attributes meet stringent quality standards is of paramount importance. Marten’s work introduces a cutting-edge approach using UV multispectral imaging instrument – the VideometerLab – to rapidly and accurately assess various critical physical parameters of tablets, such as dimensions, surface morphology, and coating integrity. By harnessing the power of UV imaging technology, Marten’s research has revolutionized the quality control process, significantly improving efficiency and accuracy in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
