Spectral Solutions: Enhancing Quality Control This Spring

Spring has arrived at Videometer, bringing enthusiasm from our users, partners, and colleagues worldwide. This quarter, we focus on enhancing quality control across industries.
Videometer Open Classification Models
Our Open Classification Models, developed in collaboration with users, are designed to identify and classify quality traits of granular products such as seeds, grains, and pellets. These models are continuously trained to meet quality standards, ensuring reliable and objective analysis of various grain features. By leveraging spectral imaging technology, we provide various industries with tools to standardize, document, and enhance quality control processes.
Our goal is to ensure that only the highest quality grains reach the market, benefiting both producers and consumers. Available models include corn, OSR, malting barley, sunflower, wheat, soybeans, oat, cowpea, rice, and faba beans. Custom models can also be developed based on user needs.

Differentiating Between Asian and African Rice
The Rice Biodiversity Center for Africa (RBCA) utilizes the VideometerLab technology to conduct in-depth phenotyping of rice seeds. This system facilitates the automated characterization of rice seeds, focusing on key crop descriptors such as color and length variations.
RBCA uses this technology to differentiate between African rice (Oryza glaberrima) and Asian rice (Oryza sativa). By studying the differences between these species, the goal is to develop an interspecific rice grain that combines the strengths of both, ensuring food security in Africa and worldwide.
Videometer Webinar Series Spring 2025
We are excited to announce the return of the Videometer Webinar Series for the fourth consecutive year. These webinars are designed for anyone interested in exploring the powerful capabilities of the VideometerLab Software. Topics include spectral image acquisition, machine learning for spectral images, applications of spectral imaging for food and agricultural integrity, advanced transformation building, segmentation building, session recipe building, multispectral fluorescence imaging, and an introduction to the Classifier Design Tool (CDT).
