Grain Quality Control with the Videometer Technology

Grain Quality Control with the Videometer Technology

Videometer Grain Applications

Within the agricultural industry, grading according to objective grain quality standards is highly beneficial. At Videometer, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that enhance the quality inspection of grains.

The Videometer technology is designed to meet the needs of the seed and grain commodity industry for quality control measurements. We offer our users the Videometer Open Classification Models.

These models are made in cooperation with our users. With them, we develop and maintain algorithms that identify kernel quality traits to correctly classify them digitally.

In order to build said models, we have developed a Digital Grain Protocol, aimed at ensuring accurate practices for correct grain analysis.

Digital Grain Protocol

The Digital Grain Protocol is a comprehensive approach to grain quality inspection that leverages the power of spectral imaging technology. This protocol includes:

  • Sampling of the grains
  • Preparation of the sample
  • Presentation to the Videometer device
  • Imaging
  • Image feature calculation
  • Model calculation
  • Format test report
  • Development of database on-premise or on-cloud

The iterative nature of the process entails the continuous updating of the classification models, which ensures that the algorithms are as current as possible.

Grain Application Brochure

The Grain Application Brochure serves as an illustration of how our models are developed by following the Digital Grain Protocol, and what they can do to aid the inspection of grains. It highlights the key features and advantages of the VideometerLab with Autofeeder and the use of the Open Classification Models.

This technology allows for the detection of quality traits in each kernel, ensuring that only the correct quality grains make it to the market. Our open classification models enable users to analyze various features of their commodity products in a fast, objective, and reliable manner. As mentioned above, the models are continuously trained with the help of users themselves to ensure continuous adherence to quality standards.

Users can automate their quality inspection processes. This not only speeds up the inspection process, but also ensures consistency and accuracy. The results of the analysis are stored and documented in different formats, both visually and numerically, allowing for easy documentation and further processing.

Available Models

Grain Quality with Videometer

Videometer’s Open Classification Models represent an effective tool for grain quality inspection. By leveraging our spectral imaging technology, we provide the grain commodity industry with the tools needed to standardize, document, and enhance their quality control processes.

We aim at ensuring that only the correct quality grains reach the market, benefiting the whole value chain – from producers to consumers by providing them with safe products.
